Did you know Willie Mays played for the Minneapolis Millers?
I have a really cool scrap book with a lot of pictures about the Minneapolis Millers. I wouldn't have known this team existed if it wasn't for this scrapbook gifted to me.
History: As the Double-A affiliate for the New York Giants, the ‘51 Millers began the season with a star young centerfielder named Willie Mays (#8). In only 35 games, Mays became so popular in Minneapolis that when the Giants called him up to the Major Leagues, the club took out ads in the local Minneapolis newspaper apologizing to local fans for taking away their young phenom, who would go on to win the 1951 National League Rookie of the Year.
